The company has a group of cooperation teams engaged in the OEM Shock Absorber industry for many years, with dedication, innovation spirit and service awareness, and has established a sound quality control and management system to ensure product quality.

The Shocking Truth About Shocks

No matter the vehicle size or type, replacing shocks is crucial to keep tires in contact with the ground and maintain a smooth and comfortable ride. Not only can replacing shock absorbers increase fuel mileage, decrease vibration and bumps, and offer better cruising control but it can prevent air springs from oscillating over time. Some commercial vehicles have all shocks; other have all struts and some have a combination of the two. While there are many types of shocks and struts on the market today, Gabriel® and Monroe® are two names that stick out when discussing the best branded shock absorbers. But, there is also Match Made®. (Heard of them? You will.)

Today, we are writing about these suspension parts from the three brands to educate consumers about their advantages in the aftermarket.

Gabriel Shocks

Gabriel® invented the original automotive shock absorber in 1907 followed by “the first hydraulic shock absorber, the first adjustable shock absorber and the first air adjustable shock absorber.” Today, Gabriel® covers approximately 96 percent of North American vehicles. Yes, Gabriel® has a long history of shockingly good news.

When it comes to the heavy-duty aftermarket, Gabriel® is best known for their Fleetline® and GasSLX® series shocks.

Click on the video below to learn about the advantages of FleetLine series shocks from Gabriel.

GasSLX® series shock absorbers are built with three adjustable settings to deliver customized comfort for your ride control preferences. These shocks contain a chromed piston rod that protects against corrosion and deliver maximum control, comfort, and durability with 10-stage valving. The GasSLX® series has forged solid steel eye rings and 360-degree arc-welded end mounts to reduce end mount failure. It also has the unique Gas Cell design that reduces fade by separating the gas from the fluid to eliminate aeration. For greater fluid retention and increased performance in higher temperatures these parts are constructed with Multi-lip Viton Seals. Gabriel heavy-duty shocks come with many advantages over other shock absorbers such as: best in-class hydraulic rebound stop designs that provide added protection for components in low-friction suspensions, having a durable self-compensation piston seal design and anti-corrosion coated end mounts that restrict rust and prevent bolt seizures and they offer chromed piston rods and they have larger 1 5/8 inch bore designs for increased performance.

Gabriel® has sold shocks on “millions of trucks over billions of owner driven miles” and they can prove it with their own “Proven” logo.

Monroe Shocks

According to Monroe’s website, they are the technician’s most preferred shock and struts brand. Like Gabriel, Monroe® has a history dating back over 100 years ago and have a proven track record delivering high quality shocks and struts for all types of vehicles including light trucks, cars, SUVs, buses, vans, and severe duty applications. They boast over 67,000 hours invested annually in shock research and development and over 1 billion vehicles served.

Like Gabriel, Monroe® offers a vast catalog of truck shocks and struts for all types of heavy-duty makes and models. Monroe is best known for their Gas-Magnum® shock absorbers and Max-Air® adjustable shock absorbers.

Gas-Magnum® shocks are nitrogen and gas-charged to maintain tire-to-road contact by improving aeration. These shocks feature robust hydraulic lock-out that prevents any over-extension of the suspension or top-out of the piston rod and offer a PTFE coating bearing that reduces friction during operation. The shocks are built with 10 Stage Valving that reacts to a wide range of driving conditions and have Tenneco shouldered bushings with sleeve designs for improved durability plus a single-lip low friction oil seal (self-lubricating). Finally, these shocks have 2-inch (50.8 mm) or 2-3/8-inch (60.3 mm) reserve tube and 1-3/8-inch (35 mm) or 1-3/4-inch (44.6 mm) bore.

According to Monroe®, Max-Air air shocks can be inflated or deflated as needed, up to 150 PSI, to maintain ride height when under load with additional weight up to 1,200 lbs. They contain a special air fitting that resists air leakage and ties into factory system (where applicable).

Match Made Shocks

Match Made® (The MATCH MADE brand is owned by an affiliate of JIT Truck Parts, LLC.) is making a national name for themselves thanks to their shocks program. Match Made shocks are designed for all types of heavy-duty makes and models and contain a chrome plated piston rod that protects against corrosion, extending the life of the shock, and a square groove PTFE piston seal for low friction and increased driving performance. They have a specially designed STOP control component to prevent rod punctures and valve damage plus a proprietary bushing formulation proven to outlast other brands tested. These shocks are produced with unique oil seal design to control loss of shock oil and nitrogen gas charge. Upper and lower valve packages are proudly made from 100% disk technology.
