What is the purpose of USB TYPE-B?

You will typically find USB Type-B ports on larger devices that connect to your computer, such as printers and scanners. You may also have external storage devices or drives that use them.
Most USB Type-B connectors are located on one end of the USB Type-B to USB Type-A cable. Plug the Type-B connector into your printer, scanner or other device and the Type-A connector into a standard USB port on your computer.

 

Can I play video on USB TYPE-B?

Yes, if you have a video projector with a USB Type-B port and a computer with the necessary functionality.
Simply connect the two devices using a USB Type-B to USB Type-A cable, and then adjust the settings on the projector so that it knows it is receiving data via USB.

Do laptops have USB C?

If it's an Apple MacBook, most likely. Possibly if it's a Chromebook or the latest model made by another manufacturer.
It's easy to find - does your laptop have such a port? But please note: Your laptop may have a USB Type-C port, but it may not charge through it. the MacBook does, but other computers may only charge with their own chargers. The manual that came with your computer should tell you if this is possible, or you can check the manufacturer's website.

 

How do I connect a USB TYPE-C device to my PC?

First, check if your PC has a USB Type-C port - not all devices do! If so, you can connect a USB Type-C device to it using a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable or a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable.

 

Does USB TYPE-C work with MINI-USB?

Yes. Mini-USB ports are often found on USB On-The-Go (OTG) peripheral devices such as smartphones and tablets to enable them to act as host devices.
Using a USB Type-C to Mini-USB cable, you can connect these devices to any computer equipped with a USB Type-C (or Thunderbolt) port, either to charge the device or to transfer data.

Is USB TYPE-C the same as THUNDERBOLT?

Although USB and Thunderbolt were once competing standards, the latest version of Thunderbolt (Thunderbolt 3) has been changed to use the same shape and most of the same features as USB Type-C.
This means that every Thunderbolt 3 port can also be used as a USB Type-C port, and every Thunderbolt 3 cable can be used as a USB Type-C cable.
Any USB Type-C device plugged into a Thunderbolt 3 port will work fine, but a Thunderbolt 3 device will not work if plugged into a USB Type-C port.

Yes, USB On-The-Go (OTG) is available for USB Type-C connections.
