The increased swing torque generally makes Barko loaders more responsive and controllable. Not only will the grapple accelerate faster, but it will also stop faster and right where you want it to stop, making it much easier to move a load around and place it where needed.
The performance difference is obvious in the field, particularly in hilly terrain. Some competitive loaders don’t have ample strength, and therefore always have to be positioned along a hill in a way where gravity can assist. The swing power of a Barko loader allows users to situate the deck in whatever fashion they need to be the most productive.
Barko loaders have always traditionally performed well while also offering class-leading fuel economy, and that’s been further enhanced with the IQAN system. On stationary units, Barko tends to use bigger electric motors than its competitors, allowing them to last longer, run cooler and consume less electrical energy.
While the theoretical lifting power of different loaders often looks very similar on spec sheets and product literature, Barko has outperformed a number of machines in head-to-head situations. In one specific instance, a customer ran a new Barko loader and a competitor loader on the same deck, doing the same work, for six months, only to trade in the other unit for a second Barko machine.
The performance gap is even greater when comparing Barko’s purpose-built loaders to excavator conversions. Where the converted machine is set up to dig, true loaders are designed and engineered to lift. In addition to lacking lifting capacity, excavator conversions are typically built with a low center of gravity and offer less ground clearance that a dedicated loader. The Wheel Loader is another machine that is sometimes forced into duty, which usually requires a greater landing area to give the wheel loader space to run forward and back. With a dedicated loader, the size of the landing can be greatly reduced.
