Truck wheel hub oil seal replacement steps

1. Preparation

Stop the car and apply the parking brake

Lift the truck tire with a jack and secure it with a support frame

Prepare the necessary tools: wrench, screwdriver, hammer, pry bar, oil seal puller, new oil seal, grease, torque wrench, etc.

2. Remove the tire and brake drum

Remove the tire nut and tire

Remove the brake drum or brake system parts to expose the wheel hub bearing and oil seal position

3. Remove the old oil seal

Remove the bearing lock ring and bearing

Pry out the old oil seal with an oil seal puller or screwdriver

4. Cleaning and inspection

Clean the inside of the wheel hub and the bearing position

Check whether the bearing is worn and whether the wheel hub is scratched

Remove all old grease and impurities

5. Install the new oil seal

Apply grease (or lubricating oil) to the edge of the new oil seal

Use a special tool or a light hammer to press the new oil seal evenly

Make sure the oil seal is perpendicular to the mounting surface and fully embedded

6. Reinstall the bearing and wheel hub

Add appropriate amount of bearing grease

Install bearings, lock rings and other parts

Reinstall the brake drum and tire

7. Tighten bolts & re-inspect

Tighten all bolts using a torque wrench according to the original factory standard

Lower the vehicle and check for leaks at the oil seal

8. Test drive and observe

Start slowly and observe for abnormal noise or oil stains

Check the sealing effect again after running for a period of time
