Stanley, you have my deepest sympathies for the having owned a 79 Saab. I had an 84 900 Turbo, and couldn't believe they didn't have a limp home mode. I lost an $60 cold air sensor, and the car completely died. Also had a 69 Saab 99, with the glass transmission. Hopefully all the scars that car left are healed.
That stupid car was a love/hate thing for me. It was a comfortable car with a reasonable amount of power. I liked the way it looked and man oh man did it drive nice. OTH, the thing had "personality". When it rained there was a relay (in a fuse box under the hood) that I had to take out and dry off in order to get the car to start. I had to remove the intake system to change the battery. It was addicted to Chevron's Techron...well, you get the point.
