What are the Differences Between Welded and Seamless Pipes?

What are the differences between welded and seamless pipes? Stainless pipes are divided into two as seamed and seamless. As can be understood from the name, seamless pipe is a pipe without seam or welding on it. The seamless draw pipe is produced by heating the steel billet into a liquid and pouring this liquid into the molds and taking the shape of the hollow pipe in the desired dimensions. • There is no welding process in seamless pipes. Naturally, the seam of welded pipe is a weak point that is open to malfunction and corrosion. Seamless pipes prevent the possibility of poor sewing. Seamless pipes have higher working pressures compared to welded pipes of the same material and size since there are no weld seams.
• Seamless pipes offer superior corrosion resistance because they have less potential for impurities, defects that may be associated with the welded area in the welded pipe.
• In welded pipes, a separate test is required for the welding part. There is no such requirement as there is no welding in the seamless pipe.
• Seamless pipes seem to be more expensive due to the cost of production. However, thanks to the high durability and corrosion resistance, they have a longer life than welded pipes.
• Seamless pipes can easily be used instead of welded pipes. However, it is not always correct to use welded pipes in places where seamless pipes are used.
